“Khatun Baghdad” novel, by Shakir Noori is his ninth novel. It coincides with the 100th anniversary of the British occupation of Iraq in 1917. The novel revolves around the controversial character of Gertrude Bell, who entered Iraq with the British forces as an archaeologist, and then became the Eastern Secretary of the High Representative in Baghdad at the time, Percy Cox. She died in 1926 and was buried in the British cemetery in Bab al-Sharqi.
